Welcome Back From Iraq
Cherry Hill, New Jersey

Who:       Specialist Daniel Krebs
When:     Saturday, December 3, 2011
Time:       Approx. 1:45 PM
Where:    156 Valley Run Drive
Cherry Hill, NJ 08002

Contact:  David (Yellow Ribbon Club) 609-417-8640
Colleen (Mother) 856-577-4660

Please come out to welcome home U.S. Specialist Daniel Krebs from his deployment in Iraq.

We will also be welcoming home two Heroes that have served with Daniel in Iraq and are visiting with The Krebs family:

U.S. Army Specialist Chris Gunter
U.S. Army Specialist John Frick

About Specialist Daniel Krebs:

  • Specialist Daniel Krebs, 23 years old, in the 77th Sustainment Brigade Unit at Fort Dix, coming home from his first deployment in Iraq
  • He is a Combat Medic and trained at Ft. Sam Houston in Texas
  • He has received the Combat Medical Badge and the Army Commendation Medal.
  • Daniel has been a Cherry Hill resident for most of life. He graduated from Cherry Hill High School West in 2006.
  • He continued his education at Camden County College and Rutgers.
  • He plans to further his education in the medical field upon his return home.
  • His maternal Grandfather(Harold McCay) was a big inspiration to his military enlistment.
  • His Grandfather told him that the military wasn’t just about war and defending your country, it was about discipline, respect, encouragement, and an extended family.
  • When my Daniel’s Grandfather had his accident, it was serious enough to warrant his return home and Daniel’s Mother Colleen couldn’t reach him for a day and a half, so she enlisted the help of the American Red Cross.
  • There was a miraculous chain of events that had occurred which enabled Daniel to return home in time to say goodbye to his Grandfather.
  • Daniel’s Grandfather served in the Marine Corp.
  • Additionally, two of his Grandfather’s Brothers (Dan’s great Uncles Earl Bartlett and Alfred McCay) served in WWII and the Korean wars.
  • Mother Colleen’s Sister’s Fiancé, Stacy Powell, is also a Marine. He was also deployed to Iraq twice. (We are hoping Mr. Powell will be in attendance as well so he too can get his long deserved WELCOME HOME greeting)

Mother Colleen, Father Mike, Brother Michael, and Sister Meghan anxiously wait for Daniel’s return, along with other family and friends and would be honored to have everyone join us to welcome Daniel home loudly.

9-11 Call to Action

September 6th, 2011

Dear Friends,

As you know, September 11, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.  Several members of the Cherry Hill Fire Department and the Cherry Hill Police Department made the trip to New York City on that fateful day to lend a hand to their brother firefighters and police officers.  Because of their efforts, Cherry Hill Township was presented with a piece of the beam from the Trade Center’s north tower.  In order to honor the firefighters, police officers and civilian victims of that fateful day, Cherry Hill Township, the Cherry Hill Fire Department and the Cherry Hill Police Department are incorporating the piece of crossbeam into a permanent memorial that will be dedicated on Sunday, September 11, 2011 at 8:00 am at the Central Command of the Cherry Hill Fire Department on Marlkress Road in Cherry Hill, NJ.

To that end, I am raising funds to help construct the memorial by running the New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 6, 2011.  I am asking for your help with a contribution of $26.20 which reflects $1.00 for every mile of the New York Marathon.  All proceeds will be used to offset costs associated with the construction of the memorial.  If you are able to make a contribution, please make your check payable to Cherry Hill Fire Prevention & Protection and indicate 9-11 Memorial in the memo portion of your payment.  You can mail your contribution to the Cherry Hill Fire Department located at 1100 Marlkress Road, Cherry Hill NJ, 08003.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Sincerely,

John C. Foley
Chief Financial Officer
Cherry Hill Fire Department
